Student Eligibilty & Registration
The service is open to everyone over the age of 18 with relevant skills and ability.
What are the relevant skills needed so that I can be listed on the database?
- The ability to communicate effectively in English
- The willigness and dedication to work in the hospitality industry
- Once in the UK you will undertake a formal qualification National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) related to your occupational area.
Once in England, students will have the opportunity to attend English Language classes. Students may wish to conisder the following two options:
Attend the Language school for one week on arrival in the U.K.
- Students attend the language school prior to taking up their employment. On your arrival to the UK you will be collected by a member of the language school who will arrange your accomodation for the week you attend their classes. When you have completed your course a member of the Academy team will take you to your new employer.
During the period of employment, one week at the language school.

Please note attending the language school to compliment your english learning is completely optional you do not need to attend if you do not wish to.

Once you have demonstrated you can communciate effectively in English you will complete a short one day Induction Programme.
What will the Induction Programme Entail and Cover?
The purpose of the Induction is two fold:
Firstly, it will provide students will the basic skills and knowledge expected by employers in the British Hospitaliy Industry.
Secondly it will provide an insight in to the English culture by.
- Having a better understanding of the English Language
- Giving confidence and ability to speak and be understood in English
- Giving knowledge of the English culture and it's way of life
The Academy will also assist the student to design a
- An English CV with Photograph
While you are registered with the Academy for Training & Development, your tutor will be responsible for your progress on your course. If your tutor cannot help you, he/she will help you find the person you need.
You will have opportunities to talk regularly to your tutor.
Flights to the UK
Flights to the U.K are frequent; the nearest airport to Devon is the Exeter International Airport. Cost of the single fight to the U.K will be required to be paid for by the student.
On arrival, a member of staff from the Academy for Training & Development will meet the student(s) to take them to the arranged place of work. Where they will be introduced to the management and guided to the arranged accommodation. Contact will be made within the first week, to ensure the student has been made welcome and to arrange a meeting to discuss the NVQ training.
